People often ask us, after visiting a class of a certain level, how long it will take until they reach the next one. This question is difficult to answer, due to the fact that one's learning capacity has to do with many individual factors. General linguistic capability, fluency, age, and how much one occupies themselves with the language outside of class times, are a few of the factors that come into play. The European Framework of Reference for Language, suggests that within one language level, there are often more than 100 units (1 unit = 45 minutes) of occupying oneself with the language. The units refer to the four main language competences: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. The majority of our group classes have a strong emphasis in spoken conversation and vocabulary building. If you visit our group classes once a week for approximately 4 semesters, that should be enough time to improve enough to move to the next level. Additionally, we strongly recommend that one also actively seeks out English activities (movies, reading, self study) outside of course times in order to maintain their success.
